Conflagration Night

Shortly after the Companions were cleared by the High Council, a series of attacks in the Lower Wards in Ul-Solaria quickly escalated into full blown rioting. Amidst rumors (later found to be correct, if exaggerated) of Changed Ones roaming at will through the streets, the Ward Watch was commanded by High Council to move into the city and help the overstretched City Guard restore order. After a few days of fighting order was eventually restored but the balance of power in Ul-Solaria was irrevocably changed. The ancient Borromil Family was literally wiped out by mobs of rioting citizens once it became widely known that they had initially opposed sending the Ward Watch in to the city. Hap Borromil and most of the scions of this family were slain or are now missing. The Morrok Clan and the Rehkt’Matal increased their influence exponentially by their aid in suppressing the riots and both can now claim to control (along with the Wall Runners) the Lower Wards.

The City Guard was decimated by the riots and was also revealed to be largely ineffectual and corrupt. Since it’s leader—Bethany Junrin—was slain during the fighting (rumors persist by corrupt elements of the Guard) the Guard was officially disbanded and the position of Head of the City Guard removed from the High Council. Ul-Solaria is now controlled jointly by the Morrok and Rehkt’Matal in the Lower Wards and the Artagian Family in the Upper Wards. The other Nine Families jointly control the Middle Wards.

Lastly, during Conflagration Night Eloine Darralis took over the Central Watchtower and slaughtered the garrison and staff. She began attempting to undermine the city Wardwalls from within the fortress but was captured by the Companions before she could complete her plan.
